FAQ

There is no such thing as a stupid question, hopefully we have thought of all the things you may want to know.  If we haven’t please email us with your question.

Who is the course for?

This course has been designed for someone serious about getting an entry level role in a retailer’s merchandise management department.  Someone who really wants a career in fashion buying or merchandise planning.

You may already be working in a retail store, have undertaken a bachelor degree or diploma in an unrelated area, or you may have just completed year 12.

What you will have, is a strong desire to succeed in the industry, a can-do attitude, an attention to detail, and a good level of English and arithmatic in order to be suitable for our course.

This course is practical and gives you the knowledge and skills you need for two very specific roles in fashion retail.  As such, if you are interested in Fashion Styling, PR, Fashion Blogging or Fashion Design, this course is not for you.

How long will the full course take me to complete?

The Ultimate course takes 6-months to complete and each month we work on a different topic area.

The Essentials courses take 6-weeks, with a different topic area covered every 2 weeks.

However, all the materials are online with a weekly live group online tutorial and a regular 1-2-1 online mentoring session.

There are weekly tasks and assessments to keep you on track, but apart from attending the live turorial, when in the week you complete these tasks is up to you.  This gives you the flexibility to undertake paid work whilst you study.

How does the internship work?

You will also work for the duration of the course with one of our intern partners a minimum of one day per week.  Some students may elect to work two days per week.  The internship is unpaid.

The internship has a dual purpose.  Firstly, it allows you to contextualise what you are learning to the job role as you go through a full six-month buying cycle.

Secondly, it is your chance to shine!  For the first three months, you will have the opportunity to spend time in various departments, such as production, marketing, buying, planning and design, so you can get a feel for how a retail support office operates.

At the end of this three months there will be an assessment and you will elect to spend the remaining three months in either a buying or a planning role.  During this time, you will learn the specific skills to that role as well as complete a project which you present to the retailer’s management team.

This puts you in an ideal position to take up a role, should one become available, although a job is not guaranteed at the end of the course.

Will you help me to get a job at the end of my course?

Yes, whilst we hope that a role will become available with your intern partner, this is not guaranteed.  However, the purpose of our course is to be a conduit between fashion retailers and young talent.

We have an extensive network of fashion retail clients and get many enquiries from retailers looking to fulfill roles.

Is the course accredited to any specific qualification?

No.  We are not a registered training organisation, therefore your course will not give you a bachelor degree or diploma.

However, our parent company, Numensa is well-respected in the industry and trains retailer’s merchandise teams, so you can be confident that the training we give you is right on the mark.

Will the course be recognised by fashion retailers?

Our reputation amongst fashion retailers is very strong as we are involved in the training of many of their buying and planning teams.  Companies include Kmart, Target, Surfstitch, Sportsgirl, Rebel Sports, Camilla, Best & Less and many more…

Will I get a certificate at the end of the course?

Yes, you will be awarded a certificate for successful completion of each section and an overall Certificate once you have successfully completed the entire course.

Do you offer any payment options?

Yes, we have partnered with ZeeFi and offer ‘study now pay later’ interest free options.  Repayments can be made over 6, 12, 18 or 24 months.
